It would be wonderful if we could instantly creates based on inspiration alone, but it is not easy.
Artists have produced their own works based on the
recognition of past works.
Some of the works are based on humanism, some express poetic emotion, some are pursued with visual senses and some have more concrete expression. We are astonished when we come across works which -we have never seen nor thought about.
Mail Art means post card, Xerox copy, collage, drawing, photograph, computer graphics I cassette and so on. They come from various parts of the world in many kinds of expressive styles by mail, fax, E-mail internet, etc.. Some of the contributors have little personal knowledge of each other.
We admire the diverse expressions and concepts of Mail Art. We send our special seals and stamps -to other people to expand our principle. We participate in Mail Art congresses to sympathize with other Mail Artists' concepts.
Along with exchanging letters from person to person. Mail Art can enlarge the network even wider by sending messages from A to B, then B to 0, C to D, D to A, C to A ......
When we receive letters, sometimes we make them into a collage and then return them to their senders or incorporate other Mail Artists' ideas into them. The methods and the diagrams of these concepts do not from a systematic line. They look like brain cells. Innumerable cell-like objects are interwined, piled up complicatedly upon each other.
We have been influenced by various artists including our contemporaries in the same way that Picatso was influenced by Cezanne and Africa carvings, Van Gogh was influenced by Hokusai and Hirosige, and Pollock was influenced by Dali and Miro. The concept of Mail Art is the same as the concept of DADA or FLUKUS and even the concept of art history itself.
We wish to sympathize with others' concepts and to use them in our works. Many fragments (fractals) of other artists are mingled into our works, They are repeatedly mixed together on the Brain Coll'8 canvas, We can recognize FLUXUS and Ray Johnson on the canvas here and there. Each of them is a Fractal which constructs Brain Cells. These are the Fractals of Mail Art.
We can produce Mail Art anywhere, we do not need special spaceo Anyone can join the Mail Art network. The production, cost is cheap. We can plan Mail Art Shows easily and Mail Art has many advantages.
Artists can directly negotiate with liberal minds, instead of rejection like against thornful cactio They should revolutionize the Art and Art Society which has become too hierarchical because of the deep relation with the commercial world.
Although the Berlin Wall is no longer, there are many kinds of nations in the world which have their own histories and cultures. Different religions have different lifestyles, foods and customs.
It is necessary for artists and others to recognize the differences in each other's personalities by distributing their work amongst one another.
