Arnold Jensky
The therapeutic relationship –
working together – is crucial to me. I say what I mean and mean what I say. I’m straightforward. I work hard.
I expect you to work hard. I believe effort, from the beginning, is essential.
I believe simplicity reflects mastery. I try not to complicate things. I return phone calls.
Decades of hearing horror stories about ineffectual therapists have taught me the value of concrete connection. I’m active and engaged. I think it’s vital to offer a supportive and challenging approach.
I do not want to dilute the magic of therapy. I want to honor a client’s faith in the therapeutic process. Therapy should unlock sources of angst.
A good therapist can be a guide, a bridge connecting ethereal and abstract ideas to clients’ lives. A good therapist also provides both the understanding and the experience of engagement –
and this understanding and experience teaches and inspires clients to succeed in their closest relationships.
Above all, I never underestimate the power of relationship. I hold a strong adherence to the idea that isolation is corrosive and a terrible psychic burden. My goal – our goal – is to develop and increase the ability to function well and find satisfaction at home and work, at love and play.
