Welcome and congratulations on taking the first step to improving your life! We at Cornerstone Counseling are licensed psychotherapists in private practice in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte.
We have experience in the therapy field, providing counseling to adults and adolescents through individual, couples, family and group modalities.
Our culturally diverse counseling center provides direct therapeutic services to all men, women and adolescents from all walks of life.
One of our goals during the therapy process is to provide a safe, trusting, confidential and nurturing environment so clients feel comfortable exploring areas of their lives that may be causing them emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, or sexual pain or distress.
This pain or distress may of block or prevent one from reaching joy and the freedom to achieve one’s full potential.
You come to therapy to face hard truths in your life and learn better ways to handle them.
Maybe you find yourself repeating the same patterns, having the same interactions, or feeling a certain way about yourself. I balance truth and tact, giving genuine feedback. I have 15 years of experience helping adults overcome depression, anxiety, and overall life stress.
I use motivational and brief therapy when appropriate to quickly help you change the way you think, act, and feel.
I also have extensive experience working with survivors of psychological trauma, including childhood sexual abuse.
I strongly support the recovery model; I help people overcome challenges and not just manage them. I know from experience that people do indeed move from existing to truly living.
I also have a great deal of experience helping people overcome addictions and dual diagnoses, coexisting addictions and underlying mental health concerns.
I have worked in medical settings for many years and understand the connection between depression and health issues.
I have successfully helped people plagued by chronic pain and IBS through relaxation and addressing root stressors.
